The CARES Act encourages eligible employers to keep employees on their payrolls. How do they do it? With the Employee Retention Credit, and the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act. This SMB legislation requires certain employers to pay sick or family leave to employees unable to work or telework because of circumstances related to COVID-19. And, and the Families First Act specifies that employers are entitled to a refundable tax credit for the required leave paid up to specified limits per the Cares Act.
