Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
HOMER GLEN, Illinois – March 15, 2019 – Richards Building Supply a wholesale distributor of building supplies announced the rebuilding of the Goldsboro branch. On Friday, April 13, 2018, Paige Barwick Area Manager for Richards Building Supply received one of the most difficult calls she ever took, learning that the Richards Building Supply Goldsboro Branch facility was on fire. She also received one of her greatest blessings during that same call when she was advised that all the team members and customers made it safely out of the building and no one was hurt.
Barwick commented, “We greatly appreciated the quick response from the City of Goldsboro Fire Department along with support from Nahunta, Belfast, Patetown, and Elroy Volunteer Fire Departments. We also had support from the Wayne County Sherrif’s Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Goldsboro Police Department, the Wayne County EMS, the American Red Cross. We wish to recognize everyone who came to our site that day, they were here when we needed it, and they are a true testament to what makes Goldsboro and Wayne County such a special place to live. Thanks to all the people who helped with our rebuild process.”
Barwick added “In 1980 Eastern Aluminum started here and we have been a wholesale distributor of building products since that time. We carried aluminum siding, and as time and the markets changed we expanded our offering to include vinyl siding, as well as windows, doors, stone, interior cabinets, roofing, we can provide anything for the outside of the home except brick at this time. We have proudly served professionals in this community and the surrounding communities for almost 40 years. With Hunter family purchasing the company in the late 1980’s we expanded our territory and grew to 10 branches. In 2015 we were lucky enough to have been acquired by the Richards Building Supply family, they welcomed our 10 locations in and made us one of 60 instead of one of 10 at that time. It’s been a great fit for everyone, and we are very fortunate to be part of a great organization and are extremely fortunate for the support they have provided with the fire and with the acquisition.”
Goldsboro Mayor Chuck Allen stated, “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be here. Mr. Hunter started all of this, so the Richards family could come in and expand on the business. When I saw the fire, the first thing I thought was that these people are going to leave. And, very quickly they said they are not going anywhere and have plans to rebuild, and rebuild they did, what a fabulous facility.”
Joe Scott the Mayor of the town of Mt. Olive and the Chair of the Wayne County Developmental Alliance added “I am glad and thankful to see this place back because it’s not just the Goldsboro business it’s a business community that reaches many areas. It’s a great blessing to our community to see the place back.”
Barwick commented, “We moved into this facility on February 15th, so just ten months after the fire we have moved in. Many things can be learned in difficult times, it’s not the best way to learn them, but the best blessings have come out of this. We have a great new facility, we have more products than ever before, and we invite everyone to come out and visit us.” Richards Building Supply’s Goldsboro location is at 311 N. Oak Forest Road, open weekdays from 7 am until 4 pm.
